The Zombie Prom at Lucky 13 Garage is kicking off tomorrow at 7.30 and as we prepare for Craven Brains High Schools Prom of the dead we thought we would chat to the 90s cover band who will be resurrecting 20 year old hits! To us the 90s never died, but to many its dead and buried! Be sure to get your tickets tonight to save a few dollars! Tickets available at the door for $15! SPAM has been performing for what seems like forever. What has been your secret to your longevity?
We believe by changing drummers every 2-3 months it keeps us fresh and excited to play. Its at a point now where we don't even know their names, we just number them. We've had more drummers than Spinal Tap! No honestly we literally have had more drummers than Spinal Tap! We're excited to have #26 playing the Prom. If he does well we may even extend his contract a few weeks... maybe.. Out of all the events you have performed for, what is your most memorable gig, and what has happened to make it stick in your mind? We've had so many memorable gigs over the last 10 or so years. We name them like the “Friends” episodes. eg, “The gig where Grant forgot his bass” , “The gig where Lee forgot his drum sticks”, “The gig where Lee forgot his snare drum” “The gig where Cam forgot he had gastro” (that ended badly) So many good times.. The 90s were a timeless era for all those who are now in their late 20s and 30s. Why do you think these tunes have persisted over the decades and what gives them their appeal? As a band we really haven't learnt anything new since the 90s so I suppose thats one way of keeping the songs alive. I think 90s songs are appealing as most people grew up in the 90s. Even my Nana grew up in the 90s! You guys will be a full Zombie Band for The Zombie Prom, what songs, what interaction and what can the Zombie Alumni expect on the night? We put together a classic SPAM setlist, then removed the songs that weren't really “classics” . To those 4 songs we added some classic 90s rock. We even added some unexpected surprises. Some are such a surprise that even some of the band don't know them! Basically lots of 90s with a touch of boy band and a hint of all girl group. We're in our element and can't wait!

One shot of fun, two shots of sweetness and a whole lot of sexy; this Blonde Bombshell will tickle your tastebuds with her cute curves and cheeky smile… Marilyn Mocktail has always loved to dance, and after joining the Bottoms Up Burlesque School in 2012 decided to take that passion to the stage. She debuted her first solo act at the iconic Burlesque Bar in 2013, and since then has been teasing her way onto the Melbourne scene through regular appearances at Club Voltaire, as well as performing in the world first Burleskathon – 24 Hours of Tease. This year at The Zombie Prom Marilyn Mocktail takes on the role of Zombie Cheerleader for a very special act this Halloween at The Zombie Prom! We caught up with Ms Mocktail and asked her a few questions! Burlesque is such an amazing and classic form of dance, it’s seen a resurgence since the days of Moulin Rouge the movie and other revivals of style. What attracted you to the performance art form? I love the fact that Burlesque allows you to be creative and unique; each piece has its own different story. I think it’s also very empowering, and as someone who grew up with self esteem issues I saw Burlesque as being an opportunity to overcome those issues and really embrace who I am. Even though you have only started out, what would you say has been your favorite performance so far? Definitely the Burleskathon! A large number of Australian Burlesque performers, both new and established, all came together and put on a 24 hour non-stop burlesque show which officially made the Guinness World Records. I performed my “Fireman” routine 6 times between 8:30am and 12pm on a Sunday. It was a very unique experience to say the least, and had a great community feel to it. Luckily Burlesque is constantly growing in popularity and so many events are coming up that include amazing Burlesque acts. Where would be your ultimate venue to perform? I think performing in the Las Vegas Burlesque Hall of Fame would be an amazing experience! That would be a dream come true for me. Zombie Cheerleader is a pretty weird request (and a far cry from Las Vegas), what has been your weirdest or most unique character up until now? In my most recent routine I play a 1920’s silent movie housewife who is mourning after finding out her husband has just left her. However as she begins to undress she embarks on a journey of self discovery which involves (literally) finding the colour in her life. I’m also in the process of working on a routine where I will play a Black Widow Spider which I’m very excited about! A Black Widow Spider would be phenomenally creepy for some people! This year you are a Zombie Cheerleader, what do you think you would do among a room full of Unruly Zombies? I would teach them how to dance without dropping limbs everywhere, and maybe give a few of them makeovers. Because rotting flesh is SO not in this season. You can catch Marilyn Mocktail performing her amazing Zombie Routine ONE NIGHT ONLY at The Zombie Prom @ Lucky 13 Garage. Click here for the event page! And Book Tickets Here
