The Goblin Ball is an immersive fantasy masquerade where guests step into a world of costumes, characters, storytelling, music and celebration. Rather than watching the story unfold, you become part of the world around you, with opportunities to meet its inhabitants, discover its traditions and uncover its secrets.
-
Expect an evening of fantasy, costumes, characters, storytelling, music and dancing.
You can explore the world around you, meet its inhabitants, take part in traditions like Trinket Trading, watch the Walk of the Ancients and, if you choose, take on the Quest.
Every guest experiences the Goblin Ball differently, so your night can be as immersive or as relaxed as you want it to be.
-
The Goblin Ball is a little bit of all three, but it isn't quite any of them.
It's an immersive fantasy masquerade where the guests are part of the world. There are characters, performances and a story unfolding around you, but there isn't an audience sitting and watching a show from beginning to end.
You are free to explore, dance, meet characters, take part in traditions and discover the story at your own pace.
-
No. You don't need to know the story before you arrive.
Each Goblin Ball introduces you to a new world and its characters, and the story unfolds throughout the evening. You can discover it as you go, whether you choose to follow the story closely or simply enjoy the world around you.
If you want to learn more before you arrive, you can explore the Brineshore and other pages on our website.
-
No. You can participate as much or as little as you like.
The Goblin Ball is designed so you can choose your own experience. You might spend the evening exploring the world, meeting characters and following the story, or simply enjoy the costumes, music, dancing and atmosphere.
There is no expectation that every guest will take part in everything.
-
Absolutely. Many guests come to The Goblin Ball on their own.
The Goblin Ball is designed to be social, and there are plenty of opportunities to meet other guests, characters and creatures throughout the evening. You don't need to arrive with a group or know anyone beforehand.
Come as you are, step into the world and see who you meet.

The Event
What happens when I arrive?
-
Once you arrive, you'll check in and enter the world of The Goblin Ball.
From there, the evening is yours to explore. Meet the characters, discover what's happening, enjoy the music and atmosphere, take part in the traditions of the Ball or simply find somewhere to settle in and take it all in.
-
The evening unfolds through a combination of storytelling, characters, performances, music, dancing and opportunities to explore.
There are things happening throughout the night, but you are free to choose what you want to experience and how you spend your time.
-
Yes. Our characters are part of the world around you and may approach you, speak with you or invite you into their stories.
You can engage with them as much or as little as you like. Some guests love getting involved, while others prefer to watch and see what unfolds.
-
There are scheduled performances and moments throughout the evening, but you don't need to plan your entire night around a timetable.
The Goblin Ball is designed to be explored at your own pace, with plenty happening between the main moments.
Something you see may be missed by others, and you may hear of events from new friends.
No night shares the same experience.
-
Absolutely. Dancing and socialising are a big part of The Goblin Ball.
Meet other guests, make new friends, dance, talk, trade trinkets or simply enjoy being surrounded by people who have stepped into the world with you.
-
Of course.
You don't have to complete a quest, speak to every character, dance all night or participate in every activity.
You can simply enjoy the costumes, music, performances and atmosphere and experience The Goblin Ball in your own way.
Costumes
At The Goblin Ball, your costume is part of the magic.
-
Dress for the world of The Goblin Ball. You can come as a creature, character, traveller, citizen or anything else that feels at home in the realm.
Costumes can be elaborate or simple. What matters most is that you've made an effort to step into the world.
-
The Goblin Ball is a fantasy masquerade, so costumes are an important part of the experience.
You can choose to wear a costume or formal attire with a mask!
You don't need to spend a fortune or create something elaborate. Come dressed in a way that makes you feel like you belong in the world.
-
As elaborate as you want it to be.
Some guests spend months creating incredible costumes, while others put together something simple from pieces they already own. There is no minimum level of complexity, and you don't need a professional costume to enjoy the night.
-
Absolutely. Your inspiration is entirely up to you. You can create your own character, come as a creature from folklore, or dress as your favourite character from a book, film, television show or game.
The Goblin Ball is your chance to step into a world of your own imagination, so there are no limits on where your inspiration comes from. The only requirement is that your costume feels at home at The Goblin Ball.
-
Yes. Masks and face coverings are welcome as part of your costume.
Medical masks and face coverings are also absolutely welcome. We understand that some guests may choose to wear one for health, cultural or personal reasons.
We will never ask you to remove your mask or face covering. Please extend the same courtesy to your fellow guests and never ask someone why they are wearing one or ask them to remove it.
Characters
Come as you are, or someone else!
-
No. Creating a character is completely optional.
You can simply come dressed for the world and enjoy the evening, or you can take your character as far as your imagination wants to go.
-
Anyone or anything you can imagine.
You might be a creature from another realm, a traveller passing through Brineshore, a merchant, a mysterious stranger, a noble, a trickster or something entirely your own.
There are no limits to who you can become.
-
Not at all.
A backstory can be as simple as a name and where your character comes from, or it can be an entire history you've created for them. How much you develop is entirely up to you.
-
No. There is no expectation that you remain in character throughout the evening.
Your character is there to help you step into the world and have fun. You can embrace it as much or as little as you like.
-
Absolutely.
Your character can be inspired by mythology, folklore, a book, film, television show or game, or you can create something completely original.
The inspiration is yours.
-
Of course. You don't need to create a new character for every Goblin Ball.
Bring back a character you love, reinvent them for the world you're entering, or arrive as someone completely new. The choice is yours.
The Quests
Your Choices Shape the World
-
The Quest is an optional interactive mystery that takes you deeper into the world of The Goblin Ball.
Working in a small group, you'll follow clues, meet the inhabitants of the world, uncover secrets and make choices as the story unfolds.
-
No. The Quest is an optional experience and requires a separate Quest Ticket in addition to your General Admission ticket.
-
Quest Tickets can be purchased as an add-on when booking your General Admission ticket, or can be added later if there is availability.
There are limited Quest places available per night, so we recommend booking early if you want to take part.
-
Allow approximately 60 minutes to complete the Quest.
The Quest takes place throughout the Goblin Ball, so you'll be moving through the event and interacting with its characters as you investigate.
Timeframes are provided at each event with your check in card.
-
Quest groups are made up of small groups of approx 4. guests working together to investigate the mystery.
You may join the companions you arrived with or you may meet new friends.
Questing alone? We will find a group for you!
-
Coming alone? We will make sure you find a suitable group!
The Quest is designed to be completed as a small group, so you'll work together with other Quest participants.
It's a great way to meet other guests and experience another side of the Goblin Ball.
-
No. The Quest is completely optional.
Your General Admission ticket gives you the full Goblin Ball experience without the Quest. You can choose whether you'd like to take on the mystery as an additional experience.
Those who complete the quest will receive a reward for their troubles.
-
No. You don't need to know the story or solve anything beforehand.
Everything you need to begin your investigation will be provided when you start the Quest. If you want to learn more about the world before you arrive, you can explore the Ebonvale page on our website and the other pages exploring the lore!
